Statement from NCSPP President on the Buffalo Mass Shooting

We are all left reeling from the senseless and dehumanizing racial violence of the mass shooting in Buffalo. I particularly want to extend my sympathy to our Black colleagues who once again have witnessed the murder of innocent people targeted for being Black. The grief, rage and fear that these events cause is extremely heartbreaking, demoralizing, and exhausting.  I also want to acknowledge our colleagues at Medielle College PsyD Program in Buffalo and send our collective wishes for your well-being.

I want to encourage our wider NCSPP community to exercise self-care and compassion in the coming days.  Please reach out to loved ones, to trusted members of your community and to take the time you need to manage this horribly painful event.

Sincerely,

NCSPP President Gilbert Newman
